What is the AURPO?
The Association of University Radiation Protection Officers was founded in 1962 with the object of promoting safety and knowledge in the use of ionising and non-ionising radiations. It is a professional organization whose members come mainly from universities and similar establishments involved in the training of undergraduates and graduates in the fields of science, engineering and medicine. Its principal aim is to increase knowledge and understanding of radiation protection through the promotion and interchange of information. The Association is consulted by a number of Government and other organisations responsible for drafting new legislation on various matters relating to all aspects of radiation protection.
The Association holds a Conference and Anuual General Meeting each year during the first week of September. In 2014 this meeting will be held at the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham.
